Paramour
Have I mentioned how much I love to eat? It doesn't really mesh with my other desires, like having cheek bones that cut glass, but that is just a small sacrifice that I make. My beau and I stepped out to dine at Paramour (94 Ossington Avenue) recently- and I would recommend it if you're in the market and in the area. We decided to share a couple dishes, the melon and feta salad, roasted corn and jalapeno hush puppies and the vegetarian plate. My favorite by far were the hush puppies, they looked like yellow tim-bits (i will never be a food writer) but they tasted like slightly spicy cornbread but without the density- a lot lighter and fluffier...with a tasty chipotle mayonaisse on the side. In terms of price- I would give this place a 3/5...you might have to take out the money clip but you will still leave with your gold teeth. I wrote that and I am still not sure what it means. One side note, this place does have the most bizarre 'art' up on its walls. I make note of this because it was such a disconnect between the overall vibe and the menu. There are these huge photographs of women making their best 'I am so zexy' faces (like bluesteel but with less steel more collagen)- very vidal sassoon salon circa 1998. Luckily, this did not affect the taste of the hush puppies.

Fall Fashion
Fall (I am not rushing it in - but it will come) is the best time for fashion. It is a small consolation prize for saying so long to patio season. I have noticed, call it the recession or the Mad Men effect, a return to classics. The coat above caught my eye from Club Monaco's window as I journeyed home on the streetcar. I love the twist on this traditional button front fall coat with the three tonal hues acting as the visual interest and the raglan sleeves. I had all but built a new wardrobe around it - imagining all the splendor of falls hues against it (red beret, plum scarf or a great olive classic T with dark slim cut jeans...Alas, it wasn't a winner when I tried it on but it did get me pumped for a little fall reinvention. It will be refreshing to select what I wear in the morning based on something other than to what degree I will sweat in it!

Cha-cha-cha-changes
So I have to apologize for my lack of posts. I have been feeling rather dull as of late...I place the blame firmly on my soul sucking job. Never get a job- I recommend making play your method of self-sustaining. But things have taken a turn. I interviewed a local producer today and she was such an inspiring individual that it got my brain juices (tastes like virgin ceasers) flowing and I am looking for some new horizons. That includes, making this blog a little more spicy (also like a ceaser). I think that will translate into some D.I.Y. projects and mini-interviews with cool folks doing exciting things. But first I am off to drink a ceaser.

Save a Cat; Go to Heaven
Those who know me well- know I am a feline lover. I am promoting cat pride! I think people with cats don't want that 'cat-lady' (or man) stigma... If dog lovers can show you photos of their 'babies' - then, I am going to talk about my furry child. O.k. I am taking it a little far- but she truly is a vision in beige isn't she? Anyhoo, recently myself and three friends went to see Cat City a documentary about the feral cat population in Toronto. I don't know if I would recommend the movie per se (it was a bit on the depressing side) but it made for an interesting evening (there were definitely cat ladies in the crowd, you could spot them by their cat t-shirts ahem). The sole purpose of the film was to shed some light on the growing number of cats being euthanized at shelters due to the lack of responsibility amongst pet owners to get their animals fixed. So sad. If you are ever thinking of adopting a pet- a cat or kitten is an amazing choice... cuter than a turtle, more snuggley (is this a word?) than a python and unlike a dog - cats have swagger. Go to a rescue center - you will be paid in purrrrrrrrs
